We are delighted to announce that as of March 2025, OCEANR has worked with Plastic Fischer to remove 30,000 kilograms of plastic waste from our rivers and successfully prevent it from entering our oceans.

This amount of plastic is the equivalent of 5 million shopping bags, so we are proud to say that our partnership has made a tangible and positive improvement to the quality of our planet’s river biodiversity. And this 30,000 kilogram milestone is only the beginning — OCEANR and Plastic Fischer are determined to keep this momentum going and continue working towards a healthier future for our planet and generations to come.

Plastic Fischer has also provided OCEANR with a certificate to verify not only the direct impact, but the sustainable, circular processing of this 30,000 kilograms of discarded plastic. All of this waste has been recovered from rivers and processed under international best practices. Each kilogram of the 30,000 has been independently tracked and verified through Empower’s digital tracking system.

This attention to detail throughout the resource management process involved in Plastic Fischer’s immense work to remove plastic from rivers has contributed towards three of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals — Clean Water and Sanitation, Decent Work and Economic Growth, and Life Below Water.
